Preparation and Training

Daisy and Kappi are busy training and preparing for the IHSGB (Icelandic Horse Society of Great Britain) British Championships which are taking place on the 23-25th June in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

I have just finished working out the logistics.

Hannibal crossing the Alps had nothing on us.

I spent most of the morning on the telephone sorting everything out and, much to my shock and consternation, the ruddy ferry was almost fully booked. We have the last cabin going down to mainland UK.  Imagine that, two months ahead and the boat is full!

But, phew, we have a cabin and a place for the van – full of a Kappi and a Waffle.

Two months to go.  Only two months.  So little time.  I must start to pack!  Now, where is Waffle’s toothbrush and what colour pyjamas does he want to wear?  Bob the Builder or He-Man?

Exciting times ahead.

(PS – I defy Waffle not to enchant everyone at the British Championships!)

Do you have regular stopping off places on the way down Frances? Once you’re off the ferry, it must be about 15 hours driving, or longer?

It won’t be that long. We will stop off in Aberdeen for them to stretch their legs before we set off again.

You’re so funny and made our trip to vast parts of Europe much more fun! No, I cannot imagine the ferry already full so far in advance, but there must be a ton of people in June, both coming/going. I had a friend, Lizzie Linklater who was on Orkney who used to show and she mentioned the same thing happening about 5-6 years ago.

Good luck and horse and rider look terrific! Will be out to my horse tomorrow; been 3+ weeks without a good horse fix.

Daisy and Kappi look terrific together! I think Waffle would like Star Wars jim-jams. He will be the star of the show (people’s favorite)!
