The Best Therapy

Today has not been brilliant.

Reasons:-

  • There was a tissue in the wash.  I HATE TISSUES IN THE WASH. It went everywhere and yes, the clothes were black.  The worst type of colour for a tissue involvement.
  • Then my lovely Rudall Carte flute broke while I was practising duets.  It was stuck playing B♭ instead of B.  This resulted in Daisy and I only playing F major or D minor music.  It makes practice limiting not that we were trying very hard.

So the big lads came round to cheer me up.

Yes, Daisy had left the front door open and let in a handsome one ….

L1090628

… who was very curious.

L1090625

BeAnne did her best to repel borders…..

L1090631

….. until others were involved.

L1090635

Mugshots of the intruders were taken for the police.

L1090648 L1090657

Being mugged by the boys makes me smile.  If they could beg, they would, so obviously carrots were dutifully dished out in large quantities.  Daisy and I even considered letting them into the sitting room but my OH would’ve seriously objected.

Visitors fully make up for the tissue/washing debacle as well as the stuck B♭ on my flute.

Boys and Their Toys

What do The Minions love to do best?

BN2A8970

Yup, play….

BN2A8982 BN2A8983

Endlessly.

BN2A8992

On a nice day, I like having them around the house (around, not in) so today their gate was opened.

They moseyed (sp?) about looking bored and I brought out “the toy box” – buckets, empty ice-cream and large yoghurt cartons.

BN2A9012 BN2A9018

Hours of fun, all in an old ice-cream carton

BN2A9019

You can argue over it.

BN2A9029  BN2A9041

You can take it for a walk to show everyone that you can!

BN2A9046 BN2A9050

You can even trot with one and take it places.

BN2A9052

And then look smug that you have it.

BN2A9055

Storm is different.  He is not so enamoured by the toys.  He likes to stand and be scratched, hugged, kissed and told he is a good boy. Daisy is his slave.  Actually, we are all his slave.

BN2A9040

How we all suffer.  It is very hard work.

Short Straw

Hello!

It’s Daisy here, having drawn the short straw of writing the blog. Mum has been reliving her nursing days by assisting our neighbour with transport to the hospital.  I wasn’t sure if I was up to the challenge of looking after the entire household/horsehold/doghold/cathold.

So it was up to me to walk the dogs today.

The search for rabbits ensued.

L1090532

Loki prefers to jump across the burn rather than get his paws wet.

L1090539

Meanwhile, BeAnne ponders life, gazing at her own reflection.

L1090540

When Mum returned, we went to see the Bebbies.

L1090557

There was constant competition for attention between the Bebbies and BeAnne.

L1090563

I think we can agree who won.

Last but not least….

A photo of the author who deserves your appreciation for keeping this blog going everyday. Which is no easy task (believe me!).

We’re All Mad Here!

What can you say when some amazing folk send you some amazing gifts from America.

It was better than Christmas and we had a great time opening our parcel.  Amongst the marvellous treasures were these.  Laugh? We howled.

L1090520 L1090519 L1090518

So then it was obvious what we had to do next.  And we did.  Yup we did.

L1090486 L1090488 L1090492 L1090497 L1090500 L1090501 L1090508 L1090511 L1090512

We had a bit of a forelock dilemma.  In or out?  I think out.

But, I hope you will agree, The Minions wore them better than any human, or mouse, could.

They loved their new wardrobe and didn’t object or mind at all.  And yes, playing in the background, was a great Disney CD.  Did we sing along?  Of course we did!

I think every Shetland pony should have one.

Mandatory uniform.

(I refuse to be stuffy about this!  Brilliant, utterly brilliant)

The Leddie Bebbies

Daisy and I went to see the “Leddie Bebbies” (Lady Babies) as they are known over here.  That would be Gwendolinda, Lyra, Carina and Zoot – our 3yo, 2yo and 1yo fillies.

BN2A8380

They are all absolute darlings with very inquisitive minds for my bag and Daisy’s hat (now hanging on the washing line recovering).

BN2A8392BN2A8399BN2A8412BN2A8407

What can I say?  Well, I am so glad we kept these girls.  These are the type we always wanted to breed – exemplary temperaments, looks and big, very very big).  All very kind family or show Shetland ponies who don’t have a mean bone in their body.

BN2A8396

While Daisy did sterling work, I went around cutting tails that were dragging along the ground.

BN2A8382

Carina was going for the dippy-hippy look and wearing moss in her hair.

BN2A8389

Vitamin had taken over from our beautiful Velvereta and has assumed the role of herd leader.

BN2A8383

She is still a darling and has a quiet dignity all of her own.  The others listen to her and do whatever she says without argument or fuss.

BN2A8465

So Daisy and I made a decision – we would de-tatt (unmat) one revolting filly and do whatever we could to something that was less bad.

BN2A8443

(It is best to split an arduous task into little tasks – making the job much more approachable.)

BN2A8411

I had a quick chat with Fivla as I cut her extra long dragging tail.

BN2A8455

She has always been my fairy-tale Shetland pony.

BN2A8418

After all her efforts, Daisy was rewarded by a chat from Carina.

BN2A8433

Meanwhile, I was Zooted.  She has turned into a huge bebbie-leddie (and/or a giant moose.)

  BN2A8447

She has turned overnight into a huge bebbie-leddie (and/or a giant moose.)

BN2A8450

I still love her, though!
