Weird White Cat

Monster is one weird cat.  Saturday afternoon is always set aside for flute duets with my friend, Mandy (or trios, if Daisy is around).

Usually Lambie and his friends make up our audience but, as Spring is slowly creeping towards us, he and his friends have decamped to the field to eat the new grass.  So today Monster came a-calling.

I put a lovely wool blanket on the chair and Mandy made a fuss of him.  She likes a cat (she has three of her own) so that was a good start.

And then we started to play, well Mandy did. I was laughing too much.

And then so was Mandy.

I can vouch that it is not easy to play the flute either well or at all with a large white cat looming.

And pawing.

And this is possibly the best photo.  I sent it to Daisy who said Monster looked like a creepy gargoyle.

Every performance needs an audience and we will play to whoever we have.

….. if we can stop laughing, that is.

The Clearing Bug

I am still in a clearing mood.  The bug has not left me and I just see clutter everywhere.  Unnecessary clutter. It has to go.

So today, after feeding the old ladies, I lured everyone with a bag of carrots down to their other field so get them out of the way.

And then the three of us – me, my OH and a kind friend – got going.  The two last roofs in the attached sheds had fallen in and needed to be dismantled and burned, plus I wanted to clear any other wood, if possible.

A small bonfire was started – it took a few goes to light.

Meanwhile, we were being watched by Tiddles, Storm and possibly Newt.  Of course they wanted to help but Minions and fire is never going to work.  Far too much “helping”.  Nope.

Once the bonfire lit, we kept piling the wood on.

We took off as much of the tar roof as we could before burning the plain wood. We bagged the separate felt roof bits.

Both sheds looked much better for the clearing out.

We still have work to do.  Bits of felt roof to pick up and take to the dump.

We found plenty of old fish feed sacks that hadn’t rotted away in the ground so they will be  filled.  Plenty of broken glass too.

It felt good to have a bonfire. It burned down very quickly as there was a nice breeze to help.

I have plans for my two newly cleared sheds.  They can offer shelter to the Minions as well as being a good place to put hay down. It won’t blow away and there’s plenty of space for everyone.

A job well done!  This afternoon I cleared out most of my clothes!

Minion Photies

A lovely sunny day and everyone was looking very happy and healthy.

I had brought my big camera, which has not been out much recently, and happily snapped away.

Tiddles looking gawjus, I tell you.  Upon reflection, he doesn’t really look like the Tiddles I know.

I love this one of Storm. He is almost normal.  Almost.

Dearest Vitamin definitely getting her mojo back now. Her neck is much less scrawny and flop.

Silver, who often gets mistaken for Fivla. Floss has to do a double check when Fivvie gets her bucket of nothing.

A pensive Fivla, probably trying to will some carrots out of me.  She’s doing well for her grand age.

Waffle is under all that hair. Honest.

Part yak, part pony and part exocet missile – Newt

The missile preparing to launch…..

Little Albie who follows me everywhere. He is officially A Tripping Hazard.

A wonderful morning with blue sky and it was nearly warm so good pony moods all round.

Riding Again!

Today, I did some lungeing with Dreki – who was a very good boy and wore his saddle and bridle going round and round, while I knitted with the lunge line.  I also stood on a bucket and leant over his back and he just stood there thinking I was obviously crackers!  Dreki is a nice boy to work with. He tries his utter best and is steady and calm while I look like I don’t know what I am doing.  I love him just for that. ❤️

Afterwards, I noticed that Klængur was mooching around by himself in the smaller paddock, so I caught him and led him to the school.

Klængur hasn’t been ridden since last summer when he cut up his hoof. It needed to grow right out. He had also started to spook for no reason which made me wonder about something going on with his back (remember his stallion-like behaviour with Lilja and Soley?).

Meanwhile in the absence of a horse to ride, I had sort of talked myself out of riding too, which I am not proud of.  So, with no reason not to, I tacked Klængur up and just got on.  We walked around on both reins, practising steering and brakes which all seemed to work perfectly.  Once I had dismounted, I gave my ginger ninja a big hug more out of relief.  I hope this is the beginning of our ridden relationship once more.  It used to be fun.

So today was a good day.  I achieved and feel far happier now. I have found my joy.  Yay. Go me!

Home So Very Sweet Home

I have had a wonderful peaceful day doing very little while slowly reacquainting myself with my life.

The past ten days have been rough, very rough and I am sorry for not writing the blog but at the end of the day I was just too exhausted to do anything but eat supper, shower and go to bed.  My life was very basic and there was no joy.  I decided silence was the better option than endlessly whining on about the mammoth task we had.

Anywho, here I am back and almost ready for action.  I had a rest this afternoon.

This morning I went to see the Minions, and also to feed the old ladies. It was therapy for me and I left with a smile on my face, giggling about just how silly they all are. I also hugged everyone whether they wanted to be hugged or not.

Once home, I gathered in all the haynets ready to be filled later. Haakon and his friends were pleased to see me.

But, best of all, Lambie let me hug him….. twice. A miracle. Earlier Maggie had come racing up to me to say hello, which was sweet.

Dear ‘Ster was around too.

Home sweet home.
