May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And rains fall soft upon the fields
    And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand

Pease and love to you and your family

Oh, my heart hurts for all of you. It is so hard to deal with the loss of someone you love so much even if it might be an end to their suffering. We had this happen to us with my husband’s father, who was a dear soul but so sick and living in and out of hospital ICUs for about 5yrs. We had one ICU nurse say that he had 9 lives and with less than 1/4 of his heart working, it was an absolute miracle he could speak let alone stay with us as long as he had. We kept expecting the phone to ring after he passed and it took months to realize we wouldn’t be called out in the middle of the night any longer. I cried so hard the day I realized I didn’t have to have the cell phone on the night table any longer…

The only consolation is that the person you love finally has peace. Think of you all and sending big huge hugs and strength. And wishing you all the sweet joyous memories that help to heal.

“OH, a wonderful horse is the Fly-Away Horse–
    Perhaps you have seen her before;
Perhaps, while you slept, her shadow has swept
Through the moonlight that floats on the floor.
For it’s only at night, when the stars twinkle bright,
That the Fly-Away Horse, with a neigh
And a pull at her rein and a toss of her mane,
Is up on her heels and away!
    The moon in the sky,
    As she gallopeth by,
Cries: “Oh! What a marvelous sight!”
    And the Stars in dismay
    Hide their faces away
In the lap of old Grandmother Night.”

As others have said, she was fortunate to have you near her over these last weeks and I’m sure you’ll have so many happy memories . Yours seems to have been an interesting family. I guess the next few days/weeks will not be easy so make sure you look after yourself. xx

So thankful that you were able to spend time with your mum and that you made the wonderful decision to rescue her from hospital and take her somewhere more pleasant for her final days. You have been a beautiful, loving and caring daughter and your mum knew that. May God’s grace help you to bear your loss and strengthen you for the days and months ahead.

I was shocked how I felt incapable of being the adult instead of the child.
