Go Fivvie!

This morning Fivla had claimed all rights to the wee shed so I gave her bucket in there too.

And Fivla was not letting anyone else in.  Nope. Not for no one. It was Her Shed. End of.

I had already let most of the sheep out into the field but Lambie, ‘Ster and ‘Bert was refusing to go out on the grounds there were too many horses and ponies around the gateway.

Gussie had gone out with the rest but came back when he realised the others weren’t with him.  It’s funny how they like their friends around and mind very much when they’re not. He was shouting a lot.

And then something rather odd happened.

I watched on while Kolka and Gussie had a little chat.

Normally Kolka is not really a fan of other types of animal being around.

Maybe she liked the smell of real wool on a real sheep – you know, like when you sniff a clean jersey and know it is made of pure wool.  There is a distinct smell.

And Gussie, who is very like Pepper in that he has to make friends with everyone, was very happy with this gentle velvety nose snuffling him.

Meanwhile, Fivla was not budging.

And I secretly thought to myself “Go Fivla.  Don’t be shoved around by the others”.

She wouldn’t even let Vitamin inside either, which was unusual.

And then there started to be a queue forming.  I sent this photo to Daisy and she texted back “You are on hold to stand in the shed. You are currently number 5 in the queue. Estimated waiting time 2h“.  That made me laugh.

Glorious Spring Day

It’s been a glorious spring day.  Seeing the sun shine and beautiful blue sky really lifted my spirits. I think we can all agree, it has been a long difficult winter and it is a good feeling to be finally coming out of it.

The dogs and I all appreciated the fine weather as we went on our daily walk around the fields.

I saw my very first “Blugga flooer” (marsh marigold or kingcup) and soon the wet bits in my fields will be carpeted in them. They are quite a determined plant here and no one seems to eat them.

As I wanted to make the most of the sunshine, I went into the sheep’s field to sit down on a rock.  Pepper immediately jumped on my lap and Gussie wandered up for a chat.

It must be coming up to Gussie’s birthday too (well, in fact everyone’s birthdays).  The only date I actually know is Lambie’s.  Gussie is 2 years old now and probably the biggest sheep we have.  Not fat, just tall. There is a lot of Gussie.

He is one big sheep and for a sheep born on the hill, he is the tamest.

And when I went inside, I got shouted at. Monster could’ve come too, I told him.  Maybe next time.

Band Names and Album Covers

Here are just a few photos of the sheep from yesterday and today when they came home for their tea-time ginger biscuit.

I think I have here the potential for many album covers but I can’t find a name for my Band.  It has to be special and just right.

However, I did ask AI for some help and groaned at every single recommendation (I am not responsible for any of these)

Gussie’s New Friend

Thank you for all your kind words of understanding, help and support – they mean a lot and today I feel much better about the whole rotten situation. I have decided that, as it is out of my control, I just have to go with the flow with the immense support I have. The animals (touch-wood) are all fine and we will get through this.

(one of my Support Team)

Though he’s fairly dodgy.

It’s been a chilly day. We woke to find there had been a hard frost overnight and now all the water pipes were frozen solid.  Luckily, apart from the sheep, who got a fresh bucket from our store of fresh water, no one else needed water lugging to them.  They are all in fields with streams flowing through them.

Later, when we put the ducks/hens to bed, Daisy let the sheep back in from their field, which they are sharing with the Shetland ponies.  They know the routine and were waiting ready to come home.

‘Bert of course immediately walked up to Daisy for a scratch and then Gussie (who suffers hugely from “Stranger Danger”) thought he could perhaps investigate Daisy too.

I think someone has seen the error of his ways now.

Awww, my boys.  All my children.

But Lambie was unimpressed. Daisy belongs to him so he grumbled a bit (grinds his teeth at you in annoyance) and wouldn’t let me give him a consolation hug.  He is a stroppy sheep.

Meanwhile Gussie was in 7th heaven which probably made Lambie crosser.

And Gussie had brought his snacks along too.  Non-sharing, though, obviously.  They’re for later. Just in case he feels peckish.
