Fog, No Fog, Then Fog

We woke up to Shetland covered in thick fog.  I know no flights got in or out this morning.

But, still, the horses, ponies, sheep, etc managed to find me.

There is no escape.

I’m sorry, but I don’t have much to say mostly because absolutely nothing has happened all day.

And, at the risk of boring everyone including myself, here are a few photos of my nothing day…..

The baby bunny I saw from the door of my shed – Pepper was on a dogwalk with OH so this little sweetheart made the most of the absence.

It was very cute, like one of those Chinese toy adverts that nothing like the real thing that arrives in the post.

These three Muscovy Ducks have taken to sitting on the outside table.  They meet me at the front door and waddle behind in the hope I will lead them to food.  I think they are Mum (on far right), son (middle) and daughter (left). They were the ducklings from last year.

So that’s me really. Not very enthusiastic at the moment.  Fog does that to me – mentally. It just sits and I lose all inspiration and thought.  But the wind is coming back in force tomorrow so that should liven things up.

Ted is on good form, though.

Good Neighbours

Apparently this photo was taken by my neighbour at 06:30.  I have no words (but it is sort of my fault because I forgot to clip the lead on last night).

Pepper jumped in the car and was brought home and no one, absolutely no one, is talking to her.  Wee turd.  I am so ashamed.

Feeling very kind and generous, I did however take Pepper for a walk in the morning (not that she needed or deserved one) before I drove the car into town to have something essential done (I forget what) at the garage tomorrow.

Earlier, OH had taken Ted in for his quarterly hair cut – which was very due and needed. He picked me up from the garage and drove Ted and I home.  We all think Ted looks great now and much better for his haircut.

Ted does still look very like Dobby.  Ignore the ginger thing on the left of the photo. She means nothing to us.

Apparently she is sorry, not sorry and has been embarrassed all day avoiding eye contact and any interaction.  It was only while I am writing this that she started playing and pretending nothing was wrong.

Not sorry at all.  Wee turd.

Bed-Wars

I popped over to see a friend this morning. She had asked me if I wanted a bed she had recently bought for her dog (a Border collie), which had proven to be a bit small.  I said, yes, please.  After all, there will always be someone in our house who can use it.

We placed the bed amongst the others and Ted liked the look and promptly plonked himself in.

Yes, this definitely had a potential lovely-dog-bedness feeling about it.

And Ted happily settled knowing this was now Ted’s bed.

Definitely Ted’s perfect bed for Ted and no one else because it belongs to Ted now.  Them’s his rules.

But is it, though?

The bed could now be Monster’s perfect bed.

Monster promptly made himself comfortable and, feeling a little too relaxed and happy, decided to make it his own.

He had a wash.

So, it’s Monster’s bed now because Monster has decided that is the way it will be (and now Ted hasn’t got his bed and I feel awful…. For a short while, Ted was so happy.)

Ted Time

Today was Ted’s day.

He started it looking like a greasy Muppet and came home this evening looking much changed – very handsome.

This is not an easy transition for Ted – he loathes going anywhere on a lead and manages to get into a very unnecessary lather about the whole scenario.  The journey in the car never goes well either.

But we reached Scalloway in good time and I happily handed Ted over to Coni of Hundr Dog Grooming (albeit a little early too, sorry Coni), and ran away to drive over to Lerwick. I wanted to finish my Christmas shopping.

The street was not humming with the merry excitement of Christmas shoppers.  The place was derelict.  A few shops were busy, though, so that was encouraging.

There were some good Christmas windows too – this is Jamieson’s.

A few hours later, chips eaten (late lunch) and most of my shopping done, I drove back to Scalloway ready to collect a now-beautified Ted.

And he is officially gorgeous.  Coni has done a wonderful job and our greasy Muppet has been transformed into a Handsome Prince.

(There was a quick Christmas photoshoot so we can show the world!)

So a huge thank you to Coni.

We both know it was not an easy or pleasant job as Ted was probably at his most unhelpful.

But mission accomplished and Ted can now greet the Christmas festivities looking his very best.
