Getting in the way or helping?

Floss is still working hard with Taktur on his exercise regime.

The Minions are always eager to help, encourage and generally get in the way.

BN2A9947

Waffle in particular – he sees Taktur as his mini-me.

BN2A9948

After Taktur’s 20 minute exercise in walk, it was then Kappi’s turn.

BN2A9978

I have been asked to free-lunge Kappi in the indoor school for 20 minutes.  This is to get him fitter and perhaps thinner (we can only hope).

BN2A9979

Today, there were little helpers.

BN2A9980

Poor Kappi – they were not so much helping, as getting in the way.

BN2A9997

But 20 minutes of escaping from an enthusiastic Minion, is still exercise by anyone’s definition!

BN2A9998

I think Taktur and Kappi were very glad, if not relieved, to get back to their own field away from the small fuzzy folk..

Look at me – I’m Gwyneth Paltrow!

OMG (said like Janice in Friends – coz we love Janice!)

Lambie and Gwynnie – they are one.

BN2A9923

Kale – it is the way forward……

BN2A9926

….. for all your nutritional needs.

BN2A9928

I was delivered a bag of mixed Kale by Transition Turrifield and, while Lambie accosted them, they told me that kale was very popular with sheeps.

So I thought I would try Lambie and ‘Ster out (‘Ster was not keen).

BN2A9930

But Lambie loved it.

BN2A9932

Gwyneth Paltrow and Lambie could be twins. It is uncanny – the likeness and everything!

BN2A9935

Lambie thought this was the most fab veg ever and Lambie is very fussy.  Believe me, he eats the peas first in his sheep mix and refuses to eat anything that has been dropped on the ground (possibly royalty?  I do wonder sometimes).

BN2A9937

Lambie and ‘Ster listened carefully while I told them all about the nutritional benefits of kale, though ‘Ster saw it as a fashion accessory rather than eat it.

BN2A9942

But they took it all onboard.

BN2A9944

I might have to buy Lambie a bag for his first birthday – 24th April, if you are wondering.

So you know, Lambie also likes Gordon’s gin and See’s chocolate (california brittle and the peanut one) if you are struggling with what to get him!

Little Annoyances

Flossie was exercising Taktur in the indoor school – to build up muscle and a good bottom, Taktur has to walk energetically for 20 minutes.

The field gate was open because a silage bale had been delivered and everyone was happily eating it, except for two small Minions who made the most of an open gate and escaped.

They made a bee-line for the indoor school, ducked under the bar and went inside to see who they could annoy.

BN2A9861

Poor Taktur – he knew what was required of him – to walk, stretch down and to ignore the sideshow.

BN2A9864

The sideshow were less than helpful.

BN2A9867

They laughed in the face of danger.

BN2A9868

And giggled at the thought of the fun they could have.

BN2A9869

And they had lots of fun trying to eat each other.

BN2A9870

Bless him, Taktur was a true gentleman.  Floss was well aware of her evil followers.

BN2A9872

After riding Taktur, Floss caught Trouble-Maker No 1 and took him back to the field.

BN2A9873

I think Waffle was jealous he hadn’t thought to escape with them.  He is usually one of the ring-leaders.

BN2A9876

The bale remained popular by the big ones who had made it their mission to eat it all in one sitting.

BN2A9882

Silver decided to play with Tiddles too.

BN2A9885

Watching the little ones play fills my heart.  I hope they will always play together.

BN2A9886

Meanwhile, Storm decided he wanted some silage and barged his way in between Esja and Klaengur.

No is not a word he likes or understands!

BN2A9891

Nothing like four Minions to put the world to rights.

Hugely Huggable

Floss and I went out this morning to be met by a pile of ponies.

BN2A9839

Haakon, Brá, Silver and Tiddles were fast asleep where the bale usually sits.  The rest of the herd were milling about in the field.

BN2A9842

Little Tiddles was looking particularly yummy.

BN2A9843

Although, he was not very happy when Hjalti threatened to annoy him.

BN2A9847

So I sat down beside Tiddles and kissed his nosey while I tickled his tumbly because that is what he loves best in the whole world.

BN2A9855

Everytime I tried to stop, Tiddles would ask me to keep going!

BN2A9848

Silver would hate anyone to sit beside him.

BN2A9850

He is not that type of guy.

BN2A9856

You have to wait for Silver to come and talk to you before you instigate any type of chat. He has always been like that and if you respect this, he is very loving and trusting.

BN2A9859

Haakon is the same.  He would think things were strange, or even wrong, if I came and sat down beside him.  I have never done it.  He would give me a very funny look.

Tiddles, on the other hand, is always hugely huggable.

Everything Drying Up

I think we saw Lambert or ‘Bert out on the scattald this afternoon.  I am pretty sure that the moorit (brown) sheep is ‘Bert and Daisy will hopefully confirm my sighting from the photo.  I shouted the usual greeting, Cheers-Bar-like “Bert” but he didn’t even look up at me.  He used to.  I am trying not to be sad that he has gone over to the Dark Side as he looks happy enough.  I can only hope he does not end up in someone’s freezer.  I have told the crofters when he is caa’ed in (herded together) that I would take him back or at least to leave him. I have hill rights.

L1200985

So, having shouted Bert for a while at a brown sheep, Floss and I took the dogs out for their daily trundle.

L1200994

Flossie gave me odd looks when she found I was missing and almost upside down in a ditch, trying to take photos/film of some tadpoles I had found.

L1200987

I am pretty sure those are tadpoles – if not, what are they?

The ground is drying up fast, so I am worried they will run out of water before they can safely leave.

L1200995

One our way home, we visited Taktur and Kappi and took them a good pile of silage for their tea.

L1200997

They were very grateful as the grass in their field is not growing as well as the bigger fields.

L1200999

I am loathe to move them but I will if the spring dries up leaving them with no water.

L1210002

Where they are, at present, is perfect because Taktur doesn’t fret and stare at the mares.  Any closer and he will be a berk.

L1210007

And as I write this, it has begun to rain so the streams may run again.  I never thought I would want rain.
