The Family Resemblance

Yesterday, after brushing and photographing phones (how we suffer), I wanted to do something I’ve been meaning to do for ages……

bn2a3916

To sit in the field with Lambie’s father, Puzzah to take photos.  Puzzah has been sold so this will be my last chance.

bn2a3934

Puzzah is an awesome dude – a registered Shetland flockbook ram.

bn2a3928

He is also very tame so I had a chat too.

bn2a3944

I wish we could have Puzzah but I think Lambie would be appalled at this idea and anyway Puzzah is sold and destined to make more little brothers and sisters for Lambie.

bn2a3950

I am looking at both of them to see if there is a family resemblance.

Definitely the eyes.  They both have beautiful eyes.

bn2a7384bn2a3997

And perhaps the Winning Smile, though Puzzah should practice this more and Lambie should tell him that the world would be his with a Winning Smile.

But, and now I have the answer, they both have the same platypus tail!

bn2a3936

I always wondered where Lambie’s tail came from and even wondered if he was (said in a whisper) abnormal.

Suddenly, it all makes perfect sense!

I am glad that mystery is solved.

Minions Get Brushed

Recently Daisy has been visiting the Minions to check everyone is ok and to spend time with her Lyra.

Yesterday, she reported back that we should go and brush them as Silver, especially, had witches knots and mats in his mane.

So, armed with two good brushes, mane and tail conditioner spray, 6 carrots and headcollars, Flossie and I drove over to do our magic.

They all came trotting up, very pleased to see us.

bn2a4010

If Storm could put his own headcollar on, he would – he luffs his yellow headcollar.

bn2a4013

After much brushing, we achieved various visions of beauty.

bn2a4021

Silver’s mane can now be bouffant.  No more mats and tats.

bn2a4024

Tails were brushed and cut so they won’t drag in the impending winter mud.

bn2a4027

I love this photo – Waffle and Delia together.  There are 20 years between them.

bn2a4044

Delia was on good form.  She is happily fat and will winter out losing weight as nature intended. If she begins to find it difficult, we can put a rug on her but, at the moment, she has her own layers (*** cough *** spare tyres) to keep her warm.

bn2a4045

Obviously, it wasn’t all brushing.  There was hugging…..

bn2a4056

…. as well as the usual tickling and chatting.

bn2a4066

So Flossie and I gave them a good check over and cut goobie bits out of ears.  Everyone was now beautiful again.

bn2a4072 bn2a4061bn2a4079 bn2a4051

While we were doing all this, of course a certain little Tiddles was going through my pocketses!

bn2a4078

Why am I not surprised!

Already Showing Minion Potential

Albie, lunchtime!

bn2a3169

Camus, where is Albie?

bn2a3171

What have you done with him?

bn2a3176

Ta da!  The very definition of enchantment.

bn2a3188

Little Albie loves his milk bucket.

bn2a3222

And so do others….. the vultures endlessly circle overhead.

bn2a3226

I am so proud of little Albie.  He is already showing huge Minion potential.

bn2a3231 bn2a3229

Albie practises his new talent on a very regular basis and we are fairly confident that Albie will be accepted immediately as One of Us when he eventually joins the herd.

bn2a3241 bn2a3242

Along with his wonderful derp face!

bn2a3256

Once Albie has said he has had enough of his milk, we let the vultures in.

bn2a3269

And then Camus does what Camus always does.

bn2a3280

Puts his head in the bucket and rolls!

bn2a3282

I have no idea why.

Took a Few Photos

Just checking, cataloguing and backing up the photos from the weekend.

bn2a1463

There are a few.

bn2a2836-copy

10,091 on the last count which is about average for a weekend horse event.

bn2a1439

The best photo was taken today by Flossie.

Darling Lambie was pleased to have his Muzzah home.  ‘Ster had shot into the hill to see his friends leaving Lambie by himself.  (OH hadn’t let the boys out into the hill all weekend in case they didn’t come home – I had threatened death if Lambie went feral).

l1240211

Yes, yes, yes, we saw llamas.  I have never seen one up close.  I am in ❤ (must not get one, must not get one.  Llamas would hate Shetland and Lambie would be hurt and sulk forever).  But they are very pretty!

l1240213

This is me taking the photos.  I had an umbrella stuck down my shirt to stop sunburn and I appear to have acquired two Rosebay Willowherbs for legs!

l1240252

So, this is the beginning of the great photo trawl – to weed out the best and to put it all up on a Facebook page for the participants as fast as I can.

l1240343

We need these photos to remember what a brilliant weekend we all had.

l1240352

Best fun ever.

On Our Way Home

(I meant to put the blog up last night, while writing it on the boat, but the wifi vanished so I gave up.  Anywho here it is.)

We all did brilliantly.

bn2a8223

We all had the best fun.

bn2a8302

And we all learned a lot.

bn2a8303

So, we are now on the boat, having had our supper, hoping it will be a calm crossing (so far it is).

Everyone competed and we are exhausted now.

bn2a8223

Daisy and Bjorn competed against each other in V1, Four gait Sport A.

bn2a8450

bn2a8602

Bjorn – V1 – Four gait Sport A – 1st with a score of 5.90

bn2a8795

Out of nowhere, Taktur discovered his fast tölt.  It was incredible.

bn2a8962

Daisy came 2nd in V1 – Four gate Sport A with a scored of 5.85.

It was very close!

bn2a8822

The best part was when Daisy won the Tölt in Harmony on TAKTUR.

bn2a6394

It was a big class – 14 horses and riders.  Kappi didn’t participate in Tölt in Harmony. He just did the V1 class (Four gate Sport A).

bn2a8387

Best Hest Fest.  Can we do it again please next year?

Now to go through the 6679 photos, yes, you read correctly 6679 or “some” as I like to call it!
