It is Time

While Floss and I have been out feeding and lugging water to the Minions et al, etc, Daisy decided to start work with Dreki.  It is time.  He is 4 years old this June and has a mature head on his shoulders as well as being built like a brick out-house.

She tells me that Dreki is learning to lunge in walk (so far) and worn a saddle but no stirrups (with girth done up, and everyfink). While he is more than happy to leave the herd and come into the school by himself, Efstur, shouts his head off telling his best friend (and half bruvver!) to come back!  He leads nicely and has good manners. He lifts up each hoof for picking out without drama.  Little things but all essential and all done in a happy calm manner.  So far, Dreki is very interested in everything and seems unflustered.  We set him up to succeed at every stage ending on a good note.  He is a dear boy.

(*** sniff *** I am having a proud Mum moment)

My little dragon is all growed up.

Got Stuck

This is who greeted us this morning at 08.30 when we went to feed all the sheep, ponies, horses, etc.  Father and son, methinks.

Breakfast, BeAnne’s pills and potions, and then off to feed the Minions (while putting out fresh water for the Icelandic Ladies en route).

It was a glorious day as Floss and I noted while the car slid down the track to Leradale with the air of one that might not actually make it back up the track again.

\

Brakes?  What brakes? Those are for wimps!

Luckily, we saw our neighbours (who were trying to un-stuck their car at the top of the track), so while we completed our Minion chores, they put down salt and grit on the track.  I tried my best but my car got stuck half-way up their track!

But with three people behind (neighbours plus Floss), they pushed my car to the top of the hill where their car was also stuck.

And luckily, again, a few days ago OH had given me a tow rope for my car muttering “just in case and you never know”.

So I towed my neighbour’s car out for them to say thank you for pushing me up the hill!

From henceforth my car is not going down the track to Leradale. We will park at the top and lug.  It’s the only way.  Everyone has to be checked, fed and watered. We will manage.

Still, it was a beautiful day for it just very hard work!

One of Those Days

I’ve had one of those days.  Don’t ask but it involved copious amounts of snow, hitting my head hard (owie), being hassled and some other classy (not) crap.

Anywho, here is a picture of our home, from the road.  Lots of snow today which looks beautiful but hell to drive in.

The sea is freezing too.  I find that a very strange phenomenon to get my head around.

So I made two films this week to try and sell my sheep as the shop that usually sells them is closed for the duration.

This one has a nice little soundtrack.

(and this film appears to have lost its soundtrack, but you get the gist – I think I removed all the “extras: as our broadband has almost ground to a halt.)

Anywho, if you want to buy a Sheeple, please let me know – I am happy to post anywhere at cost.

Not feeling the ❤️ today.  Sorry xx

Recalcitrant Lambie

Dear Lambie
A little note from your Muzzah.
Please can you go into the field with your friends so that we can leave the gate open for OH’s car. He is transporting 12 bales of hay to the stable from our neighbour’s and his car gets stuck in the ice if he has to stop to open and shut the gate.
I have biscuits and if you do not go into the field you can’t have any.
Love, always
Muzzah xx

Dear Muzzah
A note from your darling (and only) little Lambie.
No! I don’t bother myself with fields. They are for other sheep, not me. So I will come with you on your “wee potter” into the hill” with BeAnne.
A small bit of love,
Lambie x (one kiss, because that’s all you’re worth but more if you give me my rightful biccies, just sayin’ and askin’ for a friend!)

So a biscuitless Lambie came with us, at a distance, but definitely with us.

No, actually it was a walk at us.

This has not been a good day for BeAnne so I wanted her to get some fresh air.

When we got home, the others were complaining bitterly about being enclosed so I told them to suck it up.  They cannot be trusted.

Lambie then looked very smug.

Into my shed we went where I was making an advert for my Sheeple (don’t worry, I will put them up tomorrow).

BeAnne immediately took to her bed and had a lovely long snooze.  A walk, then sleep and she felt a slightly better.  She ate a good supper later.

And here is a small film of Lambie actually doing what he was told (for once) – coming home. I was rattling a box of food at the time, but he did run to me and, as his reward, he got his biccie!

Water Bucket Football

Floss and I are absolutely not talking to the Minions today.

In our absence, they had been playing Water Bucket Football.  The hooligans. We could see their little hoofprints in the snow all around the bucket, which was far, far away – they had obviously had a lovely game!

Floss and I dutifully lug hay, water and carrots (and TurmerAid for Fivla)  every day and this is all the thanks we get.

The finger points…… oh yes it does.

I turned my back for a second only to look back and find Storm rolling in one of the piles of hay which confirmed to me just how wicked he is.

That is not helpful, Storm.  Not helpful at all.

There were obvious accomplices with the bucket removal. I know it – Waffle was on my list for starting it all as he does love to dance in every bucket of water he can find.  Newt would’ve not been far behind, though!  Don’t be beguiled by that innocent fluffy yak appearance.

So, while I took the ice off the remaining bucket and tied it with some bale twine I happened about  my person, Floss kindly walked the ruddy miles (felt like it) to retrieve the errant bucket.

Both buckets were tied up (firmly) and filled with fresh water.  Meh!

We left everyone to think about what they had done (munching their hay) – I don’t think they cared one bit and had being having a lovely time!
