Cracked

This was Floss and me yesterday.

Sóley is an unhelpful and easily distracted eater – “ooh look a fly” – and she steals from Lilja. She frequently kicks over her bucket and that drives me mad.  I hate waste and so now one of us has to hold the buckets and, for that, you get feed dropped on your head. Wear a hat is all I will say.

Meanwhile, I am looking after the old ladies who are forever being hassled.  Vitamin is better at guarding her food, while Fivla can give in.

Storm thinks if he “works the room” with his undeniable charm, I will give in.

I have yet to crack.

Ditto Albie.  A lovely smile, though.

They do have food.  They have all this….

Plus this….. surely there is a blade of grass or two in here.  They haven’t touched it all winter preferring the other field next door – the gate was always open until I shut them in here.

So, today, I cracked.

A Dreki Day

Lungeing today for Dreki, Daisy decided.

Without woolly help.  Thank you Edna.

Obviously BeAnne was allowed in, but only if she stayed out of harm’s way and in her bed.

Daisy has worked Dreki on the lunge, but not for a while, so he started by pretending he knew nothing about this new fangled training thing.

And then the lightbulb went on and all was fine.

I was very impressed.

Daisy walked and trotted Dreki on both reins.

He was a very good boy.

Go away, (the polite version) Lambie!

And you, ‘Bert.

You can see I am easily distracted, unlike Dreki who was totally focussed on Daisy.

After lungeing, Daisy brushed Dreki’s feet – every grain of sand is sacred to us.

And then picked out his hooves.

So that was Dreki today.  He is going along beautifully under Daisy’s training.

Current Situation

It is difficult and I can’t really talk about it (hence why previous blogs have been removed)….

Due to unforeseen circumstances relating to her ownership, Maggie has gone back into the hill for the time being.  Please no comments. I feel bad enough as it is.

So I spent the afternoon making more sheeple to pay for my existing sheeple.  As you do.

Fat Cat

A lovely person (you know who you are) sent biccies for the Boyzen and Girlzen Sheep.  Thank you and wow!  An answer to my prayers.  You’ve made a difference.

But the box is great too………. according to Monster.

He quickly made it his own – ok, I left it out for him because it was Monster shaped.

And yes, I had a go at closing it to see if I could post him back to my friend (I so wish).

Of course, Monster was less than impressed with that.

And being the Monster he is, he took it out on BeAnne, which is not nice, never encouraged and could result in a 1st class stamp on his butt if he doesn’t look out!

What is it with cats and boxes?

The box comes with a chin rest for Monster to survey the world for working out how to rule it!

I have a horrible idea that we are all doomed.

Doomed, I tell ye, and Monster knows where we live!

Equine Restaurant

Every morning I go out with three buckets for the old men.  As we run an Equine Restaurant, they obviously all have different choices and requirements.

From Left to Right…..

Klængur = TurmerAid to keeps his brain calm and on a level otherwise he will spook at a rock looking at him in a funny way. And a handful of chaff
Haakon = TurmerAid because he’s an arthriticky old man,  Formula 4 Feet (to makes his hooves strong), a wee handful of conditioning cubes (because ❤️), and a handful of chaff
Iacs = TurmerAid because he had near-death colic last year and it’s good for yer guts, and a handful of chaff.

Klængur always finishes first, plays with his bucket and throws it around a bit (I have no idea why he does this but he always has ever since he arrived)

Sometimes he even presents the bucket to me as gift but hangs on to it like he doesn’t actually want me to have it really.  Small children do this when they meet the Queen with bouquets of flowers that they have been holding onto for hours, and are now quite taken with them!

Iacs stands up the hill to eat.   Everyone has their spot.

He only lifts his head when he has finished his bucket.

And to see if the hay is on its way. I tell you, we are just an equine catering service here.

Same with Haakon.  There is no budging.

There is nothing better than a TurmerAid ‘tache and a happy smile!
