It’s My Birthday!

As a child, I always thought “the Glorious Twelfth” was named solely in honour of me and my birthday. Apparently, I was wrong.

Also for today, I get a solar eclipse (it is currently cloudy so I’m not sure if we will see anything) plus the Perseid meteor shower – again, because it’s my birthday and no one else’s.  I would like the clouds to lift now, please.

An added extra this year is that Daisy has come home for a week.  She is here to help me so it is pure coincidence she arrived today (but a lovely coincidence).

Everyone was very pleased to see her, including me.

After Gussie had got over his stranger-danger feelings, he made best friends with Daisy.  In fact the sheep were all over Daisy.  She is now Queen of Sheep and I am their mere slave.  Lambie gave me a perfunctory birthday glance.  I was grateful.

OH is currently out of action for a few weeks and it means I won’t have to look after everyone by myself.

So happy birthday to me, and I shall eat more cake because it is allowed and I am a grown up, apparently.

    Happy Birthday ❤️.
    Sorry to hear LO will be out of action for a while.
    Hope he is better soon.
    Eclipse was a bit of a damp squib around here, but it was fun watching the iplayer coverage.

    Adulting is tough as my grown up daughters have told me, so isn’t it great that once a year we can take a break from all that serious adulting business & just have a glorious day twirling through our twenty-four hours enjoying our privileged day! Being able to spend the day with your loved ones, fuzzy & otherwise is icing on the cake of life. So enjoy your twenty-first*!

    *May be off by a few Shetland summers, but I have it on excellent authority that Shetland’sbeauty & fresh air preserve youthfulness. ;-}

    Happy birthday, Frances! Lovely portrait of you. We went to watch an open air production of Othello yesterday – in your honour, of course. Twas put on by The Lord Chamberlain’s Men. I highly recommend them.
