A Nice Day

It was a lovely service (cremation) and, despite us all having to stand at opposite ends of the cemetery car park, it was good to see friends and family. It was a small gathering but Mum hated funerals so we told folk to remember her how they best wanted to.

Mum worked two months up to her death (her choice) and her last beautiful model remains unfinished on its stand.

Go peacefully, Mum. I miss her.

Oh Frances, it sounds like a good farewell despite the distancing required. I am glad your mum had a project she was happy to work on in the time leading up to her dying.

You will miss her very very much but it sounds like you will have many memories to cherish.

Hope you have a safe and less frustrating journey home and get some time to be kind to yourself

What a super talented woman. I also expect a bit feisty (in a good way). Sounds like everyone there was near and dear and had special memories. It is hard to lose a parent, just hold tight to those good times and memories. Sending a big virtual hug. The following is a poem given to me.
Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
    Unseen, unheard, but always near.
    Still loved, still missed
    And forever dear.

I’m so glad the funeral went well and gave you peace.

What a talented lady, and such a beautiful last unfinished piece. Somehow it’s more poignant in its unfinished state and I hope it will become a treasured family heirloom.

I wish you a safe journey home, and time to heal. xx

I hope the service gave you and the family some peace. You have made many of us wish we could have met your Mum in person. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Prayers for a safe journey home, and some time to absorb some of what has happened. Be gentle with yourself, and patient with your grief.

P.S. I hope you have some idea of how many of us are thinking of you, Frances, and understand – in our own ways – your pain. You are not alone…

Home now Frances. You’ve done the hardest work a daughter will ever do. Well done. What was your Mother’s first name?
