R.I.P. Storm

I am sitting here, not wanting to write this…

Rest in peace, Storm.  Sleep well.  I am so sorry – I feel like I failed you horribly.

(I left him last night, inside, nibbling on a haynet, considering a bucket but he died overnight).

❤️ Storm  (2013 to 2024) ❤️
Forever in our hearts.
Run free, and don’t forget to buck a lot while you create chaos.

Bless you Frances, you care for all your ponies so very well, always thinking, and agonising over their welfare. Hurts like hell when you loose one and that goes with the joy of having know and loved them. Huge hugs.

Oh goodness I’m so so sorry to read this. Storm had a wonderful life with you. He’s out of pain and running free over Rainbow Bridge to meet up with his pals. You did your very best for him, no-one could have given more. From the scrappy little chap that arrived you gave him the best in life, care, friends and above all love and attention he craved and thrived on. Don’t be too hard on yourself Storm loved everything about you xx Thoughts are with you xx

I’m so terribly sorry to hear this. I know, from experience, the thought-spirals that can happen at a time like this….and I also know that I have never seen such beloved and cared-for, doted-upon and cherished ponies in all my years. You did everything you could and it was simply his time to move on. Sending love your way…be gentle with yourself. xo

If we only would have comforting words to give each other in our grief, but when tragedy strikes, I’m not sure mere words can express what we feel & how those feelings can help to heal one another. This week, we have thought a good deal about grieving as we lost our beloved retriever of sixteen years. I just keep thinking is the scarecrow’s line from the Wizard of Oz when he is saying good-bye to Dorothy, ‘I know that I have a heart because it’s breaking right now.’ The comfort that we feel comes from the love that our fuzzy four foot family members have given us in their time with us. Love heals in time, but because it is so deep, it does take time when the one who gave us that love departs. We are thinking of you at this time.

This is just heartbreaking. But you rescued that little guy at a time when he really needed help, and gave him the best life possible. We are all mourning your loss but know that everything was done that could be done to help Storm, and he knew to the end that you loved him. We will always remember that sweet and sassy little fellow. Take care of yourself, Frances.

Oh Francis, I am so sorry to hear this news. You gave Storm a wonderful life, full of love and cuddles and nosey kisses. His passing was probably when and where he wanted, but what a gut punch. Major hugs from me. Little Miss Maine Coon is sending very quiet purrs your way.

To echo Annie’s lovely words – you gave this little lad over a decade of luxury, indulgence, fun, friends, shelter, and all the care you possibly could.

Right now it is hard to remember that, but in time I hope you will remember just how much you have done for Storm and the other Minions.

Going out this morning and finding him must have been devastating; try to be as kind to yourself as you always are to all the creatures in your care.

Our hearts go out to you. We have been down this path too. Storm had a caring home, full of love and hugs. Storm was a feisty chap and loved life and time with his herd. Please know that you ALWAYS do/did the best for those critters in you care; sometimes we never know what Mother Nature has planned. You wrote that he didn’t have a good quality of life these past few days, so you were tuned into his needs. The critters from our home and field send consoling vibes. Wish I could be there to give you a hug and a warm cuppa to toast Storm.

I am so very sorry to hear of Storm’s passing, and hope it was a peaceful transition for him. It’s always hard to lose a furry friend, even though we know we will outlive most of them. You are such a good mum to all your critters, no one could have taken better care of him than you. He will always be in your heart with the bestest of memories. I’m thinking of you today with love.

You gave your everything for Storm. He lived his happiest hours with you on your farm. Of course the inevitable happened, that’s life and you know it. But you also know he knew how much he was loved, bucking and chaos included, as well as nose kisses. Well done to you and your family for caring so much, and sharing with us. Remember, tears and grief are a part of loving so much.

We always feel that we have let them down when we can’t put everything right but I don’t know what else you could have done for Storm. He’ll be remembered with much love. xx

My heart breaks for you, and a little for me since I felt like I knew the little chap myself. I know that feeling of failure. We do everything we can, and then punish ourselves for what we cannot. One day, his memory will be a blessing to you without so much hurt. Please take care of yourself and hug all the little furry babies tightly.
