I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything. There is just so much to do on a daily basis.
And today, while cleaning out the stalls, I noticed one of Skippy’s wheels was not turning. I panicked. I can’t do without Skippy.
When OH came past to collect Pepper for the dog-walk, I asked him if he could look at it. The ways of Skippy are not known to us as I bought it brand new and it has never broken down until today.
So OH jacked up Skippy and took a look.
The dogs had to wait patiently and I am sure they didn’t really mind as it was pouring with rain (note Vitamoobag in the distance trying to catch my eye).
And actually it was fairly simple – the wheel needed to be refitted as it had lost a split pin causing it to go off all wonky.
A few days ago I found this washer on the floor (I kept it) which apparently was part of Skippy’s wheel. So, reunited and an improvised split pin and all was fixed.
As it was raining, I let the girls in early to graze around the house. I gave them a bucket of grub too.
And then later on everywhere I went, I kept meeting Vitamin or Fivla.
You can see them wandering past my shed.
They are pretty much my scary neighbours now.
So much to do, so little time.
They say being busy makes the time go fast but in your case sometimes the repetitiveness of it all seems to make time plod along. I’m sorry not to have replied for a month or so since asking what you wanted from your regular readers. I did mean to comment frequently to prove you were not alone out there but ( said lamely) I got busy with Christmas, holidays and grandchildren visiting. Here in Wanaka in southern New Zealand we are meant to be having summer, hot fine days day after day but someone forgot to remind the weather person of this and it’s been extremely unsettled and concerning. Not that we’ve been having your storms and snow but certainly my swimming days have been few and far between. Glad Skippy is back on duty without a trip to the mechanics.
Seems like you are having your version of “Groundhog Day” (the movie) but with little opportunity to improve your outlook at least til the weather and daylight cooperates. Just know that this time of year is repetitive yuck for many, whether above or below the equator as Jacquline expressed.
In my corner of the world (NJ) we have had mostly well below freezing temps since mid December. And while little snow has fallen, we actually could use some since we have been in a drought situation for months. I’m almost envious of your mud.
Hope it gets better for you soon.
Glad OH could find the problem and fix it so easily – and glad you had found and saved the part! That kind of thing happens here all too frequently! Right now our Gator is out of service and hubby can’t seem to find the problem. I do okay without it but chores are sure easier WITH it! Waiting for lambs. Bright blessings.
Glad you saved the washer and OH put Skippy back in order. As for for your stalking neighbors – clearly they want to be bribed with yummies.
Gosh, having Skippy out of action, even temporarily, must have been incredibly stressful.
Ever since you showed him to us I have been coveting . . . like you, my back does not like this big garden as much as it used to and I am seriously tempted.
Skippy is a godsend. The difference to me is immeasurable.
