Back to my weather obsession. This is today in the UK. A heatwave, apparently. A bonkers hot one.

Meanwhile, in Shetland……

Weatherwise, it’s not great to be honest and seeing photos of folk enjoying the sunshine is a little galling while we are still wandering around in our big coats and wellies.

I even had to put the fire on in my shed for Pepper this afternoon while I made another hand-felted Shetland sheep. She absorbed all the heat generated. I could feel nothing.

Never mind, apparently the sun might arrive tomorrow, though not the high temperatures (which is good for the sheep as they really struggle with heat and their big fleeces).

I think we are all looking forward to seeing that yellow thing in the sky for more than an occasional glimpse, which is all we have had recently.

On a plus today, though, it has been an excellent spring for our bluebells.

And I now know where we planted the wild garlic – it was lost it for a while. I shall now look forward to a Shetland heatwave – my definition being two consecutive days when it doesn’t rain!

Compared to when I was just there, that is warm!! Although I did enjoy wearing my sweaters. Love your plant pictures, so atmospheric and beautiful.
I am in a hotel room south. Outside it is 26 & in our room with that yellow thing steaming in it must be 35. I’ll trade you
When we were in the midst of wretchedly cold weather that was killing trees, flowers, & bushes, I decided to add Yellowknife, in Canada’s Northwest Territory to my list of daily temperatures in the hopes that seeing this city near the Arctic Circle would bolster my spirits as I’d think, ‘We’ll, it may be so cold that everything is dying & my house cannot retain heat, but at least it’s a lot warmer than Yellowknife.’ At the time, we were running around 0*C but Yellowknife was seeing temperatures of -30* C. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but yesterday’s Yellowknife temperature was warmer than yours in Lerwick. We have skipped spring & gotten immediately into early summer temperatures which means that July & August will be quite interesting as eggs can be fried on sidewalks as the sun will come up. Therefore, I am suggesting that we try really hard to send you 15degrees of temperature off our daily forecast from now until the end of October. That way both Florida & the Shetlands will have lovely weather into Fall.
