Doing Nothing

I am spending many busy hours doing absolutely nothing, which I will admit I am quite enjoying.  I listen to classical music from Vermont Public but can’t do anything that involves world news as it terrifies me. The diaries are moving steadily forward too, which is good.  When I think Kate was alive for three big wars – the 2nd Boer War, WW1 and WW2 – I know I should not complain.  There is something very comforting about typing 1949 rather than 2026, though.

I do however come downstairs for meals and this was at breakfast when Flossie and OH had come indoors having finished doing the animals (rugs off today for all as it is a nice day).

I wasn’t quick enough in catching Pepper and Monster sitting together – quite a rarity these days.  Monster was just on his way out as I took this.

This left Pepper by herself to snaffle up any pieces of hot-buttered crumpets that might be going spare so she was perfectly happy.  There’s been no running off today (not for the lack of trying) because everyone is watching her like a hawk!

Yes, we don’t talk of news because everyone identifies with your comments; it is ,indeed, terrifying. This is a great reason for me to concentrate on a wonderful family across the pond who spoil all 4 foot family members as we spoil ours. I now am concerned if the equine group have high necked coats (or whatever the correct term is) & if the weather is better so the fashionistas with manes can be in the horsey buff or if the Shetland equivalent of a New England Nor’Easter is blowing in. Another great news item is if Gus is wearing his hay snacks or if Pepper is going to run for mayor. Believe me, the sanity of your family, 2 & 4 legged, is the best news waiting for me in my email. I think Pepper’s idea of staying close to home, Monster & Ted napping on the shared ‘new’ bed, & listening to beautiful music are all perfect ideas now. Heal, Frances, but no stressers (as in any world news) until you are up making lovely wool sheep in your happy room (an antidote to all wretched, insane news anytime)!
