Congratulations to Daisy!

I’ve been on tenterhooks all morning looking at my phone waiting for a text or a call….

Daisy was having her viva (short for viva voce – a spoken oral examination, typically used to defend a doctoral thesis (PhD) or other advanced academic qualification).

And, at 13.30, just as I was typing into Google, “how long is a viva?”, I received the phone call informing me that we must all now refer to Daisy as Dr Daisy!

Apparently, and I wrote it down, she has a PhD is Veterinary Research and Equine Nutrition.

I can’t even begin to tell you just how proud I am of Dr Daisy.  This is a huge achievement for her.

It has not been an easy path but she has succeeded due to all her own hard work.

The bit that really tickles me is that Daisy is the first female Doctor in our family, ever, which is bloody amazing.  I am incredibly proud of her.

(and am obviously wearing my proud Mum t-shirt).

And I hope Daisy is now celebrating her socks off!  Well done Dr. Taylor PhD, MSc, BSc.

Oh this is SPECTACULAR (please do not think that my use of caps aligns me with a noted person who manages to scream via his inflammatory postings-I merely am so very excited) news for Dr. Taylor & her friends & family. The dedication of a person to achieve at that level is sobering. It means putting so much of life on hold no matter how interesting the field. It is such an achievement & reflects Daisy’s comittment to scholarship & veterinary science & her love of horses. Also, congrats to all of you because the support from loved ones is paramount in advanced studies. [And a personal vet on speed dial is terrific]

I can truly imagine your proudness, let alone Daisy’s. I’m sure every single one of your followers knows how you feel and joins in the celebrations wholeheartedly. I’d be raising a glass this minute if I wasn’t knee deep in muesli and a breakfast cup o tea. Well well done.

Massive well-deserved congratulations to Dr Taylor, xxxxx

Obtaining a Doctorate is hard work, very very hard work and most people have absolutely no clue about the hours, the dedication, and the sacrifices which are made to achieve this.

Cake all round to everyone!! (Except Pepper …. who should only eat proper dog food, and good luck with that)

So chuffed to hear this Frances – take a bucket load of credit yourselves, Daisy did the study and the work and got things in on time – but you two and Floss always there in support. Thought of Dr Daisy a few days back, reading Big Bad Wool (2nd book the Sheep Detective movie based on). And the vet visit being made so difficult by reluctant sheep: crossed my mind Daisy would have had that flock sorted without all the drama. As Kris said above, congratulations are from world wide – this one from Australia, onya Daisy!!

Congratulations to Dr Daisy,!! It’s a fabulous achievement. Congratulations too to the proud parents and sister.
I love your choice of photos in the post, but most, most especially the last photo. It’s very moving and really highlights Daisy’s deep connection to the ponies. ( Sorry for not being able to pinpoint exactly which pony / horse it is. ).

Yes, that’s it, I love the way Daisy is just so relaxed on Iac’s back, and Iac is also completely relaxed with her there. Such pure love.
Wow, it just got a bit dusty in here. ..
