More Photos From the Past

Another trip down memory lane – sorry.

I found another stash of pics – 220gb on a disk that need to be reduced down to a manageable size.  These are from around 2018.

So here goes….. (say if you get bored).

BeAnne and Haakon – this is one of my most favourite sights.  The view from onboard of my best beloved two.

Dearest Storm.  I miss him so much and expect to see him with the others all the time but he’s always out of my reach.

Daisy and Flossie riding out together.  Daisy is on Kappi and Floss is riding Iacs.  Those were great days.  Floss had just learned to ride and Iacs was her trusted steed.

L-R – Iacs, Kappi and Haakon

Tiddles offering Dreki my sun hat.

The struggle is real for Monster.

Dear Puzzah (Lambie’s father).  His life with us was brief but he was loved by me, but not much by the other sheep.

Lambie and BeAnne – a boy with his mum.

Lambie loved BeAnne.

They were good friends.  Never a cross word.

Nothing to see here  – just going on a regular dog/sheep/cat walk as you do.

A summer’s day with Lambie and Daisy who is doing her best to ignore the faint smell of wee.

Lambie’s brief sojourn into advertising.  Unfortunately, Marc Jacobs was unimpressed and all I can say is that it was his loss.

Looking at these two bottoms, I know the one on the left is definitely Newt and the one on the right is very possibly Klaengur.

Down the south end – Sumburgh lighthouse in the distance.

And lastly the joy of BeAnne in the snow, which she always loved.

I hope you enjoyed these random photos.  There are plenty more to get through.

Over the Hills

Today has been a day of yuck (rain with a cold north wind) so I have dug out my photos from a dog-walk we all went on a few days’ back when it wasn’t raining and the sun was trying to appear.

I originally thought it was just the dogs and myself but there was yowling and Monster appeared.  He is quite difficult to miss, while the dogs are exactly the same colour as their background.  I couldn’t be bothered to put on their hi-viz coats.

But I don’t mind Monster coming along too if he promises to keep up. I am not standing around waiting.

And he did, albeit he shouted his head off.

Quite the great white hunter!

We went a good way too – over to Clothie, my five acre croft that is a good walk across the open grazing that is the hill, and back home.

When I told OH about our morning walk, he said rather dismally “Monster never comes out with me!”  I looked smug.

My Broadband Mess

Our broadband is hopeless, I mean seriously hopeless with no chance of it ever getting better.  No fast fibre or fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) for us.  Just a humble 1950’s copper wire snail meandering along very, very slowly.

A few years’ back, we did have a quote for a fibre connection and, I jest you not, the quote was nearly £1,000,000 but the best bit was when they asked us, in all seriousness, when we would like them to start the work!

We did raise this all with our MP and MSP but, despite their best and most valiant efforts, we were told the situation is never going to change.

Last night, I got more than a bit anxious looking at our landline phone bill (£40 per month for mostly spamming calls) and broadband provider (£25 per month for feeding the snail). I realised enough is enough and this was a complete waste of money –  we need something better.

So, this morning, after feeding everyone and being very grateful that the storm has finally abated….

…… I grabbed my laptop and went into my shed to create a spreadsheet of all our options so I could see for myself at a glance who is offering what.

I was going quite well, when OH arrived to take the dogs for a walk and Monster wandered up the shed track.

I tried to ignore him but the whining outside only got more persistent and louder.

There was a lot of wandering around an already full table.  I was working with two laptops.

Monster was not helpful.

But finally we reached an arrangement which worked for all of us and I went on working out what were the best options in our set-up.  I think my conclusion is that I need to do a lot of phoning on Monday and then make a momentous decision to change everything, with the help of Monster, obviously.
