Today was the annual visit to the Christmas Craft Fair in Lerwick. I left OH in charge of the animals and put out double haynet rations for the boys, leaving out 4 buckets for the old ladies to be eaten over the morning. It was a lovely morning off from my usual routine spent with Mandy, my flute-duet friend who came too. We shopped!
I am sorry there are so many photos but it was set in two huge halls with overspill too.
Everyone and anyone seemed to have been working hard all year to produce a high standard of every kind of art and craft.
I even managed gin for elevenses!
It would’ve been far too easy for me to ignore my Christmas list and to just buy presents for myself!
My heart melted!
At this stage I was wondering whether it was possible to hang pictures on the ceiling as there is no more space on any wall in my house.
Puzzah! (Lambie’s father forever immortalised in a card – I was lucky enough to have been given the original artwork).
As the morning progressed, the Christmas Fair became very busy and I was tiring fast.
Fish and chips for lunch, a quick nip around Tesco and then home to play flute duets. Shopping is exhausting work.
What beautiful things! so much talent in the Shetlands! The wooden chair, with the very high back, what kind of chair is that? I’ve not seen one like that before.
Fair Isle chair –
What talented craftspeople!
Hi from Decatur Alabama USA! Why didn’t you invite me to shop with you?! My passport is expired but I would have figured out a way to go. OMG. The items you showed are fantastic & sure there was so much you didn’t picture. They looked top notch & high quality too. I’ve recovered from no invite btw. LOL. Very glad you had a pleasant break & hope you recovered with a yummy meal. (bet Pepper & Ted smelled Fish on you & were put out for not getting any). You deserved it! Have no idea how you keep up with your sweet animals, farm, and home with all the extras added on. It is such hard work & you and your husband take such great care of them. Kudos. I am down to 1 donkey that I got from Bureau Land Mgt when they rescue mustangs & burros in round ups. Sam came from Nevada at 4 yrs old. He is almost 22 now & the bestest creature ever. He does have a donkey buddy with him as company. I wish had more as they are on 56 acres w a ponds, barn & another shelter for them. We usually have milder winters here – nowhere near your issues. I do have 5 dogs & two cats – most are rescues. Sorry to babble on. Mostly wanted to say hello and to have a good weekend.
Hi back. Lovely to hear from you, I have a special place in my heart for donkeys.
I’d have been tempted to spend far too money at your fair! Some stunning things.
