Reached The Limit

I’ve decided that there is an actual limit of the amount of hours of US Medical Dramas that I can physically watch while I make my sheep.  Today, I reached that limit.

I have cut back to making two sheep a day because if I make any more than that I will be an emotional wreck.

This is not good for me.  I feel like I haven’t stopped crying all day what with all the emotional high’s and low’s.

However, I take regular breaks to find some normality.  That is a must.

This afternoon, after completing my second sheep, I went to talk to the real thing.

Barrel is feeling a bit more sociable now, though he severely distrusts me and any ideas I might have that might involve injections, oral painkillers, spraying his wounds…… I don’t blame him but I am beginning to think he only limps when he sees me.  After this morning’s ministerings, Barrel went and beat up Gussie so I think he will live the day.  He is a bit grumpy.

So I sat on a rock refusing to think about medical misery while various sheep came to talk to me.

I need something normal to keep me on this earth.  Just doing a few chores around the place helped. I mucked out a little shed and watched Gussie tip over the bucket afterwards.

Perhaps I should find something else to watch – I have access to Netflix, Disney, Amazon by various means.  Any suggestions? Something light, well written and no murder, violence or scary stuff.

I recommend The Residence on Netflix. Even though it’s about a murder in the White House during a State Dinner for Australia, with over 150 suspects, it is not at all gory. Fast moving, funny, witty dialogue and an impressive woman detective who is also an avid birder. I also recommend reading The Bobington Post; a wise ginger cat who is also a curmudgeon. Today I went to the barn to sit with my goats and sheep when I was very annoyed with humans. It helped a lot. When none of that works and it’s too hot here, I look forward to my trip to Shetland Wool Week in September!

I don’t have access to any film companies but we watched a delightful film, I think it was on Channel 5 TV, the other day: “Mrs Harris Goes to Paris”. The lead was the wonderful actress Lesley Manville (who was also the lead in “Mum” in which my father’s cousin Marlene Sidaway acted.

Loved Mum. Wasn’t convinced by Mrs Harris, though might give it a better go.

Marlene Sidaway is one my most favourite radio actresses – King Street forever. Does that mean I am related to her?

Guessing you’ve already watched all the Ted Lasso series? If not – the subject matter might put you off, but push past that…… E x

I will laughing & shedding tears of riotous, exuberant laughter for at least today if not all week. A running thread throughout life has been some very strange medical conditions which defied diagnosis until the last couple of decades, so watching medical programs was never a draw. Finally, I was accepted to Mayo & my first trip hit me like what you have shared today. It took me a month to for my emotional reset to kick in because seeing people so desperately ill & not being able to do anything was an emotional tsunami.
What about really happy books on tape? I do hours worth of sewing & my go to’s are music or books on tape. However, my beading friend craves the visual stories of TV. My husband the gardener prefers podcasts. I do hope you find the answer shortly, but maybe Harrell’s use of Gussie as a bowling pin deserves some consideration. It certainly is not easy being sensitive.

I know just what you mean re tv dramas. I’ve been bing watching Shetland .! Don’t think I need to visit now, I’ve seen a lot of scenery and would probably stumble upon a dead body while out walking. Enjoy your trip away, you deserve a break

I’ve been on a Jane Austen pigout recently, peaceful to watch despite all the fluff! Also, my all time fave audiobooks are M.C. Beatons Hamish Macbeth series….just wonderful. Enjoy!
