Exercises

A spectacular sunrise this morning. It even made the muck heap look good.

And while that was going on in the sky above, everyone equine was totally oblivious and happily munching their breakfast having survived their first night outside in the snow.

Meanwhile, my back is terrible. I have intense pain/sciatica going down the front of my left thigh and I am finding life very rough.

So I looked up my symptoms and started to do exercises every 30 minutes that would help while lying in bed.  Walking is difficult and sitting impossible now.

Obviously, I had help.

And Pepper was not helpful.  Her legs are spikey and heavy.

I have phoned up the Pain Clinic where my name is always on stand-by and I have joined the list to be seen for spinal epidural steroid injections soonest. I can’t go on like this and am very worried.

On a good point, though, I might have found the photo to be made into Daisy’s next Christmas puzzle! 1000 pieces of varying shades of white.  She’ll love it.

I had horrific sciatica, starting off fairly mild in September and agony by November (not able to sleep easily, impossible to sit or stand for long, made myself sick on naproxen). However, I found an excellent chiropractor (one of the McTimoney school) and she sorted me with four or five session in December. Seriously impressed.

So sorry to read how you are suffering at present. I am guessing this is something degenerative that can only be managed, not cured?

Thinking of you, and hope you do not have to wait long to be seen at the Pain Clinic

Everyone looks great & ,obviously, doing much better than you are doing at the moment. The word ‘sciatica’ should be attatched to ‘(GROAN)’ or something much stronger. Let’s hope that your wait listed epidural call comes soon.

The pictures are lovely, especially, Monster in the snow.

Your blog is one of the high points of my day–I too have a little farm I share with 3 horses (one is mine, 2 are my daughter’s) 2 cats, one little dog (Mike, who does not know he is little). I will be 76 on January 18th. Reading your blog has me seriously thinking of adding sheep. ‍⬛

They are hard work and need someone with a good rugby tackle on them. Tame when they want to be. Feral when you need to do something with them!

    Greetings Frances and Flossie,
Frances, Sorry to hear of your awful back-pain, lack of rest and the other medication-indicating difficulties. (Occasionally, and “for no reason”, I get an immobilising “lightening bolt” up my spine, which puts me flat on my back for 2-4 days, so I empathise with you, very directly.) All best wishes to you for a quick and complete recovery

And Flossie, your “Snowstorm Pix” are quite beautiful, as are your various snow-adjusted critters – who don’t seem too bothered by the recent picturesque and wintery changes. Thank you.

Frances the snow shots are such a tonic, beautiful. In Australia right now we have horrendous floods at the top bits, and equally nasty dry heat and bushfires on the lower bits – some snow would be lovely. (At least Mr Trump isn’t eyeing us off through all the camouflage for a golf course).
