The Big Outside

A few photos from my travels around the island recently.

Common Butterwort (I had to look that up for you).

Wild Thyme?

Some kind of moss (no idea so I am no thinking I need to buy a good plant book)

Minions enjoying the grass.

I advertised for someone with a metal detector to come and look for buried “treasure” at Thordale.

Obviously he had supervision.

And this is the great Viking hoard that was found!

Just got to pop to the British Museum to get it valued.

I doubt we will be getting rich quick, to be honest but it was fun.

Sorry, not a very inspired blog but my upper back hurts, it is raining and cold.

WHERE IS THE EFFING SUMMER?

Summer is flipping well down here in the Midlands and I am struggling in the heat after 3 weeks in Shetland. Mind you the dog and I got soaked in a down pour first thing this morning, but then it heated up…humidity…rude words from me….want to be back up in Shetland…hate the heat…Mind you the pooch was ecstatic to have ‘Mum’ back. The young people were pleased too so it was a nice welcome home. Hope Tiddles is feeling less sore today and that Lambie’s eyes are improving. Lovely photos as always Frances. They keep my spirits up. Thanks.

I actually love the unidentified moss best. It is so pretty. The pic of the gentleman metal detecting, is that your home behind him? What a lovely setting. The stone houses are so beautiful. Your island is a wealth of beauties. I would so love to visit there.

Thanks for sharing Your Shetland. It’s so lovely there. (Perhaps the coins are pennies of Richard III?)

What a beautiful and interesting place you live, Frances. The sundew looks like it came from another planet. And now I’m curious to see what kind of “Viking” coins those are…

Thank you for a perfect Sunday trip around your neck of the woods!
