Totally Fed Up

I have had enough of this snow stuff.

My entire life is spent worrying about making sure everyone has food and water.

(currently, I have two buckets in front of my cooker of soaked but frozen fibre beet trying to thaw)

Meanwhile, in the porch, we have buckets of food for tomorrow morning.  Everything freezes in the shed.

I go out endlessly refilling haynets and water buckets.

Of course everyone is very grateful but there is no let up.

Basically, and it just dawned on me, I am responsible for everything my lot eat and drink. Horse, sheep, duck….. etc.

If I am not there, they get nothing.

Every morning, the snow is deeper, drifted more and I think we are all struggling now.  Bad moods all round.

(sorry, I am having a total whingefest today)

If there is any thaw and dripping, I stick a bucket underneath because water is a very valuable commodity and not to be wasted.

The water is frozen in the shed and stable but, when I can get it going, I fill everything I can find.

I have had enough of this now and so has everyone else.  Today, I didn’t get to see or check on the Minions. The gritter went off the road.  My Leradale neighbour kindly fed and watered them reporting back they were doing ok.  Thank goodness for kind folk.  That is a blessing.

Life is hard in the snow. It’s almost the middle of March, so hopefully it melts soon and no more until next winter!

It seems to have been a long winter. Absolutely right to feel fed up. And the daunting prospect of mud when the snow thaws….. But you have loads of appreciative creatures whose lives would be so diminished without your care. xx

Weather events add so much difficult to already busy days. And it must be even harder with snow and freezing temperatures. Currently we have heavy rain in California so, for me, many, many round trips to the barn in the rain for my animals. Which means many, many times of rain pants on, rain boots, warm sweatshirt, knit cap and rain coat, then dry everything and on again for the next barn check. It is just me so understand your responsibility and exhaustion with the weather. It will get better.

This certainly seems to have been a particularly harsh Winter. I completely understand your feelings and please feel free to vent if you need to. Even though they may not always show it your animals love you and you love them as well. And prayers for an early and mild Spring. and soon.

Is this a typical time of year for you to get this much snow? Wow…what a headache. Sure hope things warm up soon for you and your critters. You work so hard, Frances. God bless you for all you do. Thanks to your helpful neighbor too. May things get much better soon!
