These past few days, he’s not been himself.
By “not himself”, I mean that Monster has not been nagging for food, annoying everyone by asking for food and generally demanding food. And what food he has, he doesn’t finish his bowl! Something is not right.
I phoned the vet surgery who said he should be seen today, so OH and I took Himself in.
Monster was less than impressed by our decision.
And all semblance of dignity went out of the window at this stage!
He weighed in at 6.4kg.
Yes, you heard that correct. But poor love had a very slight temperature.
One injection (long-lasting antibiotic) and a bottle of painkiller to take home (vet wisely gave the first dose), we are now in the “see how he gets on” scenario.
Possibly it was somebody that Monster ate who dared to disagree with him, or he is coming down with cat ‘flu as per usual. I made him walk home from the car, parked outwith – exercise is good for you, isn’t it?
The dogs were pleased to see their old “friend” back.
I was ignored, and not thanked for my chauffeur services.
Anywho I got on with worming all the horses and ponies.
And called it a dog walk, hoping no one noticed that we didn’t actually go very far. Monster came whingeing along too, which I took as a good sign.
So, we’ll see how we get on and take it from there. Poor Monster. The indignity of it all.
I am horrified to hear that Monster is ailing! I wish him the speediest of recoveries!!!
My Maremma dog, Bess, was acting a bit down and out the other night, but nothing shockingly out of character. However the next morning, she acted like she was 107 years old! I took her temperature, and it was 106 F. Around here, if an animal (or human) strikes a sudden high fever, we always think of that tick-borne disease, anaplasmosis. Luckily, I had some Doxycycline on hand, which I immediately gave her. By nightfall, her temp was normal, and she was back to talking smack to the coyotes. It is my sincere wish that Monster makes a miraculous recovery like Bess did.
Thank you. Hugs to your Bess as well xx
The only pic I see where monster looks pretty scared is when he’s inside the pink crate! His eyes look like saucers in that one. Poor guy. Hope he’s better fast. Nice to see the pic of his two buddies checking him out. He probably smelled like vet.
I hope Monster is feeling better by now. I do hope the meds take care of his problems. I wondered if perhaps he has a urinary tract infection/blockage due to stones/crystals in his urine. We’ve had a few male cats experience this problem. They were the ones who didn’t drink water regularly. They needed surgery to dislodge the stones. I do hope Monster does not need surgery! I love all your pictures of him. He is a handsome cat.
Thank you. He is back to himself. I found rabbit fur by the front door. I think he may have indulged and was digesting for a few days, sort of like a python!
